My Story – Walsh Irish Knitwear

My Story

My name is Teresa Robb owner of an Irish knitwear business called Walsh Irish Knitwear.

I am based in Portstewart on the Causeway coast of Northern Ireland.

In my home studio I design and create luxury knitted accessories. Growing up during the troubles I learnt my creative skills of knitting and sewing from my mother, and my entrepreneurial skills from my Nanny, who, at the young age of 23 found herself widowed with two young daughters. She set about opening and running her own grocery shop for many years in the heart of Belfast and through the very worst of the troubles. From a very young age I worked in her shop. I watched and learnt from my Nanny. She was Mary Walsh.

I went on to University where I graduated as a geography teacher. I continue to work as a teacher in Bushmills home of the famous Irish whiskey.

Walsh Irish Knitwear was born out of my love of knitting and creating beautiful accessories. I design the products I love to wear. I have sourced the best quality Italian merino wool making my products timeless luxury that can be kept and worn for many years.
